Role Summary

The Consultant Dermatologist - Clinical Care will deliver expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and long‑term management for patients with common and complex dermatological conditions. Based at a modern healthcare facility in Saudi Arabia, the consultant will manage medical, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology cases while collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists. The position requires strong clinical judgment, proficiency in modern diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, and a commitment to patient‑centered care. The consultant will also contribute to clinical governance, medical education, quality improvement, and the professional development of junior healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive dermatological consultations and detailed examinations of the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes.
• Diagnose and manage acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, dermatitis, pigmentation disorders, infections, hair loss, nail disease, and other dermatological conditions.
• Identify, assess, and manage benign, premalignant, and malignant skin lesions.
• Perform dermoscopy and interpret clinical findings to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Conduct skin biopsies, lesion sampling, and other diagnostic dermatology procedures.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient history, clinical findings, diagnostic results, and evidence‑based guidelines.
• Prescribe and monitor topical, oral, injectable, and biologic therapies where clinically appropriate.
• Perform cryotherapy, phototherapy, chemical peels, laser treatments, and other advanced dermatological procedures.
• Provide cosmetic dermatology consultations and recommend medically appropriate treatment options.
• Assess patients for procedural suitability, contraindications, potential complications, and expected treatment outcomes.
• Obtain informed consent and explain treatment benefits, risks, recovery requirements, and after‑care instructions.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans according to clinical response and safety considerations.
• Educate patients about skincare, sun protection, disease prevention, medication adherence, and long‑term condition management.
• Coordinate with oncologists, rheumatologists, plastic surgeons, pathologists, endocrinologists, and other specialists for complex cases.
• Maintain accurate consultation notes, diagnostic findings, treatment records, consent documentation, and follow‑up plans.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, medication safety, patient identification, and clinical risk management procedures.
• Protect patient confidentiality and maintain professional, ethical, and culturally sensitive clinical practice.
• Supervise and mentor residents, junior doctors, nurses, technicians, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in departmental teaching, case discussions, clinical meetings, and professional training programs.
• Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, quality improvement projects, and patient safety initiatives.
• Support the development and review of dermatology protocols, clinical pathways, and departmental policies.
• Remain current with developments in medical dermatology, procedural dermatology, laser technology, and aesthetic medicine.
• Participate in continuing medical education, research, conferences, and academic activities where applicable.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Completed specialist training in Dermatology from an accredited medical program.
• Board certification in Dermatology is mandatory.
• Eligibility for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties licensing and consultant registration.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Consultant Dermatologist.
• Strong clinical background in medical, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology.
• Proven ability to diagnose and manage a broad range of skin, hair, and nail disorders.
• Practical experience with dermoscopy, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, phototherapy, chemical peels, and laser procedures.
• Knowledge of modern dermatological medications, biologic therapies, and treatment technologies.
• Experience assessing and managing suspicious lesions and skin cancers.
• Western education or postgraduate training is strongly preferred and may be required by the licensing authority.
• Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, communication, and patient counseling skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience supervising and mentoring clinical staff.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare environment.
