Role Context
The Consultant - Dermatology and Aesthetic Care will lead the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with common, chronic, inflammatory, pigmentary, neoplastic, and cosmetic dermatological concerns. The role combines diagnostic dermatology with procedural and aesthetic practice, requiring sound clinical judgment, technical precision, and individualized treatment planning. The consultant will also contribute to multidisciplinary case management, patient education, clinical governance, and development of high-quality dermatology services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level evaluation and treatment for a broad spectrum of dermatological conditions.
- Diagnose and manage acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, dermatitis, and other inflammatory skin disorders.
- Assess suspicious skin lesions and manage patients requiring investigation for skin cancer.
- Perform comprehensive skin, hair, and nail examinations.
- Use dermoscopy to evaluate pigmented and non-pigmented lesions.
- Perform skin biopsies and coordinate histopathology review when clinically indicated.
- Develop individualized evidence-based treatment plans according to diagnosis, disease severity, patient needs, and expected outcomes.
- Perform laser-based dermatological and aesthetic procedures within approved clinical privileges.
- Carry out cryotherapy for appropriate dermatological lesions.
- Provide phototherapy for selected inflammatory and pigmentary disorders.
- Perform chemical peels and other suitable cosmetic dermatology procedures.
- Assess patients for aesthetic treatments and provide clear counselling regarding realistic outcomes, risks, and aftercare.
- Manage chronic dermatological conditions requiring long-term treatment and monitoring.
- Review treatment response and modify topical, systemic, procedural, or combination therapy as necessary.
- Educate patients on skincare, sun protection, recurrence prevention, trigger avoidance, and long-term disease management.
- Recognize dermatological conditions associated with systemic disease and coordinate appropriate specialist referral.
- Collaborate with oncologists, pathologists, rheumatologists, plastic surgeons, primary care physicians, and other specialists for complex cases.
- Maintain accurate consultation notes, procedural documentation, consent records, prescriptions, and follow-up plans.
- Apply stringent standards for infection prevention, medication safety, procedural safety, confidentiality, and clinical governance.
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, nurses, and other clinical staff where required.
- Participate in clinical audits, outcome reviews, quality improvement, and departmental service development.
- Maintain current knowledge of advances in medical dermatology, procedural dermatology, laser treatment, and aesthetic medicine.
- Contribute to continuing medical education, teaching, and professional development activities.
Ideal Profile
- MBBS or an equivalent recognized medical degree.
- Board Certification in Dermatology is mandatory.
- Valid UAE professional license or eligibility for appropriate consultant licensing in Dubai.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working at Consultant Dermatologist level.
- Strong experience across both medical and cosmetic dermatology.
- Proven competence in dermoscopy, skin biopsy, cryotherapy, laser treatment, and other dermatological procedures.
- Experience diagnosing and treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and complex inflammatory skin disease.
- Strong understanding of skin cancer recognition, investigation, and referral pathways.
- Familiarity with phototherapy and advanced dermatological treatment modalities.
- Practical experience in aesthetic dermatology is highly desirable.
- Western education or specialist training is strongly preferred.
- Ability to assess procedural suitability and provide clear informed-consent counselling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability within multidisciplinary clinical teams.
