Role Context

The Consultant Allergist and Immunologist will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with allergic disease, immune dysfunction, and complex hypersensitivity conditions. The role combines detailed clinical assessment, specialized diagnostic testing, immunotherapy, biologic treatment, emergency allergy management, and long-term disease control. Effective coordination with respiratory, dermatology, ENT, pediatric, gastroenterology, and other specialties will support accurate diagnosis, safer therapy, reduced allergic complications, and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess adult and pediatric patients presenting with suspected allergic or immunologic disorders.
• Diagnose and manage allergic rhinitis and other upper respiratory allergic conditions.
• Evaluate and treat allergic asthma in collaboration with respiratory specialists where required.
• Manage atopic dermatitis and other allergy-related skin conditions.
• Diagnose food allergies using structured clinical history, testing, and appropriate challenge pathways.
• Evaluate suspected drug allergies and determine suitable diagnostic or avoidance strategies.
• Manage insect venom allergy and advise patients regarding prevention and emergency preparedness.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic urticaria.
• Evaluate recurrent or unexplained angioedema and establish appropriate management plans.
• Provide emergency management for anaphylaxis in accordance with recognized clinical protocols.
• Develop individualized anaphylaxis action plans for patients at risk of severe allergic reactions.
• Evaluate patients with suspected primary immunodeficiency disorders.
• Diagnose and manage secondary immunodeficiency within the scope of clinical immunology.
• Assess immune-mediated and autoimmune presentations relevant to allergy and immunology practice.
• Obtain detailed medical, allergy, medication, environmental, occupational, and family histories.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations with emphasis on allergic and immune-related disease.
• Conduct and interpret skin prick testing for appropriate allergens.
• Perform intradermal testing where clinically indicated and within approved practice standards.
• Conduct patch testing for suspected contact hypersensitivity.
• Interpret serum IgE and other allergy-related laboratory investigations.

• Coordinate additional investigations required to distinguish allergic, immunologic, respiratory, dermatological, or gastrointestinal causes of symptoms.
• Develop personalized treatment plans based on diagnosis, severity, trigger exposure, comorbidities, and patient preferences.
• Prescribe pharmacological treatment for allergic and immune-mediated conditions.
• Provide allergen avoidance and environmental control strategies.
• Initiate allergen immunotherapy for appropriately selected patients.
• Administer and monitor allergy desensitization treatments according to established protocols.
• Recognize and manage adverse reactions associated with allergen immunotherapy.
• Assess patients for biologic therapies when conventional management is insufficient or advanced treatment is clinically indicated.
• Monitor response and adverse effects associated with biologic treatment.
• Educate patients and families regarding trigger avoidance, medication use, inhaler technique, and emergency treatment.

• Coordinate with ENT specialists for allergic rhinitis, sinus disease, and related upper airway conditions.
• Collaborate with pediatricians in the assessment of children with recurrent allergies or suspected immunodeficiency.
• Work with gastroenterologists where food allergy or immune-mediated gastrointestinal disease is suspected.
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions for patients with complex multisystem presentations.
• Maintain accurate consultation notes, allergy histories, testing results, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
• Ensure allergy status and significant adverse drug reactions are clearly documented.
• Follow DHA requirements, hospital policies, ethical standards, and patient-safety procedures.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Completion of a recognized Residency in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics.

• Board Certification or equivalent qualification in Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
• DHA Consultant license, eligibility letter, or ability to obtain Consultant licensure in Dubai.
• Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization consultant-level experience.
• Extensive experience diagnosing complex allergic and immunologic conditions.
• Strong clinical expertise in asthma, allergic rhinitis, food allergy, drug allergy, eczema, urticaria, and anaphylaxis.
• Demonstrated experience with primary and secondary immunodeficiency disorders.
• Strong capability in skin prick, intradermal, and patch testing.
• Experience interpreting IgE and specialized immunologic investigations.
• Proven competence in allergen immunotherapy.
