Job summary

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts invites applications for a Commis 1 to join our hotel kitchen team. You will prepare and present high-quality dishes within your assigned station, ensuring recipes and standards are followed.

You will also help maintain mise en place and uphold strict food safety and hygiene practices. You will support Commis 2 and Commis 3 colleagues, contributing to efficient kitchen operations while developing your own culinary skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen within a hotel/resort or high-quality restaurant.
• Passion for culinary excellence and producing high-quality dishes.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations and food safety standards.
• Organised and detail-oriented, able to work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written English; other languages are a plus.

YOUR ROLE

As a Commis 1 you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes within your assigned kitchen section ensuring all food is produced according to established recipes standards and procedures. You will support the Junior Sous Chef in maintaining efficient kitchen operations, upholding food safety and hygiene standards and delivering exceptional culinary experiences. You will also assist in guiding junior culinary associates while continually developing your own skills and expertise.

HOW YOU LL MAKE THE PLACE

Prepare, cook and present dishes according to Rosewood culinary standards and recipes. Ensure mise en place is organized and fully prepared for all service periods. Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation and hygiene regulations. Monitor product quality, consistency, portion control and presentation standards. Support and guide Commis 2 and Commis 3 associates in daily kitchen operations. Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen environment while ensuring proper care of equipment.

You are passionate about culinary excellence and take pride in producing high-quality dishes. You have strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations and food safety standards. You communicate effectively in English; additional language skills would be an advantage.
