Job summary

Stantec in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced civil professional to monitor and supervise civil works in accordance with contract documents. You will review submittals, respond to RFIs, coordinate activities, manage inspectors, and ensure safe, compliant project execution.

Ideal candidates have 8–12 years of total experience, a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction, and SOE & DMT registration, with UAE experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor civil works for conformance with contract documents and procedures manual.
• Review, approve and process civil technical submittals.
• Answer RFIs related to civil works.
• Coordinate and supervise all civil activities and operations.
• Review contractor's structural change order proposals and recommend to Infrastructural PM.
• Liaise with sub consultants as needed.
• Review contractor claims related to civil works and prepare recommendations.
• Review project record documents relevant to their discipline.
• Manage civil inspectors.
• Call for testing and analyze laboratory/test reports.
• Assist with inspection of completed works and oversee startup, testing, and handover.
• Sign off on completed structural works with documentation.
• Perform other duties given by Infrastructural PM.
• Monitor work progress to ensure procedures and materials meet specs.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed with Health & Safety Engineer.
• Strive to improve operations and reduce turnaround times.

Job description

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Monitoring the civil works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
• Reviewing, approving and processing all civil technical submittals.
• Answering RFIs related to civil works.
• Coordinating and supervising the work of all civil activities and operations.
• Reviewing contractor's structural change order proposals and preparing recommendations to Infrastructural PM.
• Liaison with the necessary sub consultants.
• Reviewing contractors claims related to civil works and preparing recommendations for claims.
• Reviewing the contractor's project record documents relevant to their discipline.
• Managing the civil inspectors.
• Calls for testing as required, analyzing laboratory and testing reports.
• Assisting with the inspection of completed works and monitoring the startup, testing, commissioning and handover of the civil works.
• Signing off on completed structural works with completed documentation.
• Perform all other duties given by Infrastructural PM.
• Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed and materials used conform to specifications.
• Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed in co-operation with the Health & Safety Engineer.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work co-operatively and jointly to provide a quality seamless service.

2. Person Specifications and Qualifications:

• 8-12 years' total work experience
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in relevant disciplines: Engineering or Construction.
• With SOE & DMT registration
• Preferably with experience in UAE
