Job summary

Designsmith Interior Works LLC in Dubai is seeking an experienced draftsman to support high-rise building projects. Job description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented draftsman to join our project team supporting the delivery of high-rise building and construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed architectural, structural and MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, construction details and as-built drawings. The role requires close coordination with architects, engineers, project managers, consultants, QA/QC teams and site personnel to ensure drawings are accurate, compliant and issued on time to support project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed architectural, structural and MEP shop drawings based on approved design drawings and project requirements
• Develop construction details, sections, elevations, layouts and fabrication drawings
• Prepare coordination drawings to identify and resolve clashes between architectural, structural and MEP systems
• Revise drawings based on consultant comments, approved design changes, RFIs, site instructions and site requirements
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, applicable building codes, local authority requirements and company drafting standards
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, Project Managers, QA/QC personnel and Site Engineers to clarify drawing requirements
• Prepare accurate as-built drawings reflecting actual site conditions and completed works
• Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper version and revision control for all issued drawings
• Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, completeness, consistency and constructability before submission
• Prepare drawing submissions and incorporate consultant review comments within the required timelines
• Support quantity take-offs and material planning by providing accurate drawing information
• Prepare method statement sketches, temporary works drawings and construction details when required
• Coordinate with subcontractors and review their shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements
• Update drawings based on approved site instructions, RFIs, variation orders and design changes
• Ensure timely issuance of drawings to support construction schedules and project milestones
• Maintain proper records of current and superseded drawings and ensure a complete drawing history is available
• Participate in design coordination meetings and technical discussions
• Follow company CAD standards, drafting procedures, document control requirements and project-specific drawing standards
• Support project handover by preparing complete and accurate as-built drawing packages
• Perform other drafting and technical support duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or Project Manager

Required Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software
• Knowledge of Revit and BIM is an advantage
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, detailing and building systems
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, construction standards and project specifications
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and document management systems
• Strong understanding of drawing revision, submission and document control processes
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related discipline
• 3–5 years of relevant experience as a Draftsman in the construction industry
• Experience working on high-rise building projects is preferred
• Strong experience in preparing shop drawings, coordination drawings, construction details, and as-built drawings
• UAE/GCC construction experience is an advantage
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams and meet tight construction deadlines
