Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer in Dubai to lead wet infrastructure design for wastewater, stormwater, and water systems. You will undertake hydraulic modeling, develop design briefs, and prepare tender documents while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates have 15–18 years in master planning and large-scale water infrastructure, with strong CAD/ GIS tools experience and excellent English communication skills. On-site work in Dubai is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• 15-18 years of experience in master planning and design of large-scale wet infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, InfoWater, InfoSewer, WaterGems, SewerGems, InfoWorks ICM, InfoWorks WS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept, preliminary and detailed designs for wet infrastructure.
• Review, organize and analyze collected data to support design decisions.
• Develop design briefs and Basis of Design technical notes.
• Carry out hydraulic modeling using recognized modeling software.
• Perform design calculations and develop cost estimates.
• Develop design drawings and specifications; prepare BOQs.
• Collaborate with peers and liaise with other discipline teams and remote teams.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather data and discuss options.

Stantec is currently looking for a Civil Design Engineer to work on projects associated with wet infrastructure, i.e. wastewater, stormwater, potable water and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment system, and flood management and water resources management studies.

The role involves working on projects associated with wet infrastructure, i.e. wastewater, stormwater, potable water and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment system, and flood management and water resources management studies.

This will involve undertaking field visits, investigations, data collection, planning, hydraulic modeling, master planning, design development, report writing, preparation of tender documents, technical specifications and BOQs.

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

1.

   • Organize and attend meetings with clients to collect data and discuss technical solutions and options

• International working experience, e.g. GCC Region, Europe, North America (preferred)


• Excellent command in English both written and spoken


• Arabic language skills (preferred)

• Strong team working capabilities, committed to working with all levels of management on a daily and ongoing basis

• Work towards obtaining professional accreditation (Chartership/PE or equivalent) from internationally recognised engineering institutions such as ICE, CIWEM, Engineer Australia, etc.

• Hydraulic design / modelling experience in sewerage, stormwater and pressurized systems.


• Ability to work independently receiving only ad-hoc support from the main office.


• Willingness to be based on site or client office to carry out design work independently with the CAD team, NOC team and site supervision staff
