Job summary

A leading hospitality company in Dubai seeks a Chief Engineer to manage maintenance operations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Responsibilities include planning preventative maintenance, liaising with HR, and providing in-house mechanical and electrical repairs. The ideal candidate must hold a certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and have at least five years of experience in hotel engineering. This full-time role does not offer remote work options.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage preventative maintenance work.
  • Liaise with HR over recruitment and interviewing.
  • Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing and repair.
  • Assist to prepare the Engineering budget and contribute to planning exercises.
  • Liaise with HR on recruitment and payroll for the department.
  • Submit daily and monthly reports to the Director of Engineering.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records and service contracts.
  • Provide technical training through a yearly plan approved by the Director of Engineering.
  • Conduct routine inspections of public and service areas and support Green Globe audits.

Job description

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning and Organising
  • To comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire health and safety licensing and provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.
  • Plan and manage all preventative maintenance work throughout all areas.
  • Continually monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel and implement measures resulting in energy cost savings.
  • Assist to prepare the Engineering budget for the property and provide the Engineering input into hotel strategic and operational planning exercises.
Administration
  • Liaise with HR over all employee matters including recruitment and interviewing.
  • Control all payroll and business expenditure of the department.
  • Submit daily and monthly report as requested by Director of Engineering.
  • Submit a monthly report for the equipment preventive maintenance system.
Maintenance
  • Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing repair and maintenance using well-trained presentable personnel carrying out maintenance works in an efficient discreet and guest friendly manner.
  • Carry out continuous inspections to ensure the highest level of guest comfort is maintained and that all services are in proper working condition.
  • Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritised and are dealt with in an efficient manner.
  • Develop a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians to carry out all maintenance and repair work to standard with technical specifications.
  • Assist at all Project stages on the small and major projects.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records and compliance of service contract.
  • Provide associate technical training through a yearly plan approved by the Director of Engineering.
  • Following up the risk assessment comments related to the department and plan for action after getting approval of the Director of Engineering.
  • Ensure the building is on shape and take the routine daily inspection for public areas and service areas.
  • Following up the environmental program related to the Green Globe audit.
Qualifications
  • The Chief Engineer must speak fluent English.
  • Certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have not less than five years operating experience in a hotel engineering department.
  • Must be familiar with the operations and priorities of all other hotel operating departments.
