Job summary

Minor International seeks a seasoned Director of Engineering for its hotel properties. You will lead engineering teams across multiple properties, ensure reliable operation of building systems, manage budgets, and drive preventive maintenance programs to protect owner assets.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Engineering, 10+ years in hospitality engineering with 5+ years in a senior role, and CHE or equivalent certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) required.
• 10+ years in engineering within hospitality; 5+ years in senior management.
• Director of Engineering experience in multi-property hotels preferred.
• CMMS and property management software proficiency expected.
• Strong financial acumen and budget control experience.
• CHE certification or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Chief Engineers and team to meet financial, operational and service targets.

Job description

• Ensure efficient operation of hotel properties equipment and maintenance services whilst protecting the Owners assets.
• Oversee structural aspects grounds maintenance and external facilities of the hotels.
• Monitor budgets and control expenses across all areas of the department.
• Coordinate purchasing for Engineering departments in line with hotel procedures.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance procedures including the annual Preventative Maintenance programme.
• Oversee all technical installations including building services kitchen equipment and hotel systems.
• Ensure compliance with MinorHotels policies on Fire Hygiene Health and Safety.
• Provide solutions for emergency situations and significant technical issues.
• Lead and support the Chief Engineers & team members in achieving financial operational and service delivery targets through effective policy development and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical Electrical or Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years experience in engineering roles within the hospitality industry with at least 5 years in a senior management position
• Proven track record as a Director of Engineering or similar role in a multi-property or large-scale hotel environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and life safety systems
• Strong understanding of energy management and sustainability practices in the hospitality sector
• Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and property management software
• Excellent project management skills with experience in renovation and capital improvement projects
• In-depth knowledge of local building codes regulations and health and safety standards
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget preparation and cost control
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop engineering staff across multiple properties
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests team members staff and stakeholders at all levels
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to make quick informed decisions in high-pressure situations
• Professional certifications such as Certified Hotel Engineer (CHE) or equivalent are highly desirable
• Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous
