Job summary

Entropy, an operating firm serving investors, ventures and policymakers, seeks a full-time CEO to lead a venture built by Entropy Studio. The role offers ownership of the P&L, the commercial engine, the regulatory position, and the first institutional raise.

You may bring the company you run for Entropy to invest or join a company we form together. The board seats are held by Entropy's partners and you will recruit and lead the founding team and guide the market entry across jurisdictions.

Job description

Entropy is an operating firm serving investors, ventures and policymakers in complex markets. Funds, founders, and ministries bring us deals to structure, assets to fix, and reforms to align with the market.

Entropy's work spans investment operations, venture development, and policy delivery, including due diligence, structuring, turnarounds, pilots, and regulatory design. In addition to the operational practice, Entropy Studio builds and operates ventures aligned with its thesis based on market demand and insights gathered from hands on operations.

Role Description

This is a full-time CEO role in a venture Entropy Studio builds with you.

There are two ways in:

• bring the company you already run, where Entropy takes a position through investment or combination, or
• take the seat in a company we form with the entity, structure, and finance function already in place.

The role carries full ownership of the P&L, the commercial engine, the regulatory position, and the first institutional raise. Entropy's partners sit on the board.

Responsibilities

• Own the P&L from formation, including pricing, margin, unit economics, and the operating plan the board reviews.
• Build the commercial engine, from the first customers through the contracts and partnerships that make the model financeable.
• Secure the regulatory position the business depends on, including licences, approvals, and the relationships that keep them.
• Recruit and lead the founding team, including hires in markets where the company holds no entity.
• Run the first external raise with Entropy's Partner & CFO, from model and data room through to close.

Qualifications

• Company ownership experience as a founder, or full P&L leadership of a business or business unit. You understand what it costs to be the last line of accountability.
• Commercial track record built on closed contracts and paying customers. You understand that revenue is earned in the market, not the model.
• Operating experience in regulated or structurally difficult categories. You understand that the license, the counterparty, and the payment rail decide the plan as well as the ways to work around them.
• Capital experience across raising, pricing, or negotiating institutional money. You understand what a real investor will and will not underwrite.
• Judgement in unstructured environments where data is thin and the route is unmarked. You understand that the work is to build the system, not to wait for one.

Ideal Profile

• Your product is infrastructure: 1) other companies build on it, sell through it, get paid through it, hire through it, or move goods and money through it, OR 2) it is a material, process, or technology that changes how an existing market works, and incumbents cannot easily answer it without rebuilding
• You have paying customers, outside funding, or product and IP strong enough to justify commercialisation and a push for growth.
• Your model is irregular and/or complex
• You are at a structural inflection point: proven product but no structure for growth, a licence, an entity or holding structure, a cross-border flow, a margin that breaks at scale, or a raise your data room will not survive.
• Emerging market and emerging industry experience preferred, must know how to get things done in unstructured environments.
