Job summary

EMSTEEL in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Ladle Operator to implement and execute casting activities in the SMP1 caster. You will support the casting team, ensure material and tool readiness, and maintain safety standards across the operation.

The role requires 3–5 years in a steel plant as a Casting Operator and a background in billets casting. Higher Secondary/ITI education is expected, with readiness to train new staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Sufficient technical knowledge of casting and casting parameters.
• In-depth technical knowledge of Steel Making and Continuous Casting operations.
• Ability to cut with oxy-cutting and welding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Casting Operator duties assigned by the Supervisor according to production requirements.
• Ensure sufficient availability of casting consumables and tools for CC operation.
• Follow casting safety precautions and company safety policy.
• Keep the Casting work area clean and free of obstacles to minimize hazards.
• Confirm readiness of machine for new casting sequence and check machine parts.
• Follow instructions for replacing mould assemblies and radioactive sources.
• Ensure effective execution of casting operational policies covering all areas of the casting plant to deliver quality products.
• In emergencies, cooperate with procedures/work instructions by the Casting Supervisor.
• Perform casting activities per Emirates Steel QS Program to meet standards and customer requirements.
• Provide training for new employees.
• Coordinate with Crane Drivers and Billet Handling Controllers regarding billet quality.
• Coordinate with EAF/LF and Refractories Team to optimize plant productivity.

Job Description / Role:

Implements, executes and conducts activities of Ladle Operator required to effectively carry out the ladle teeming operation in the SMP1 Caster.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carries out Casting Operator duties assigned by the Supervisor, according to production requirements.
• Ensures sufficient availability of Casting consumables and tools required for CC operation.
• Ensures that all Casting safety precautions in the machine are working and abides by the Company safety policy.
• Ensures that Casting work area is clean and free of any obstacles or encumbrances to minimize Steel Making Plant hazards.
• Confirm readiness of machine for new casting sequence and check machine parts.
• Follow the instruction for replacing mould assemblies, as well as radioactive sources.
• Ensures the effective execution of casting operational policies covering all areas of the casting plant, so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled, while delivering a cost –effective quality product to RM operation.
• In case of an emergency, cooperates and acts in accordance with the operational procedures/work instructions specified by the Casting Supervisor.
• Shall be responsible for performing casting activities, as specified in the Emirates Steel QS Program, to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.
• To impart training for new employees.
• To coordinate with Crane Drivers and Billet Handling Controllers regarding the quality of billets supplied by the CC plant.
• To coordinate with EAF/LF and Refractories Team on a regular basis, to optimise the productivity of the Plant.

Experience Required:

• Minimum 3-5 years in a Steel Plant as a Casting Operator
• Around 5 Years in steel making plant with billets caster industry

Education Qualifications:

• Higher Secondary School/ITI
