Job summary

Sharaf Shipping Agency LLC is seeking an experienced Cargo Supervisor to oversee cargo operations on board vessels and at quayside. You will coordinate with the vessel master and crew, ensuring accurate cargo documentation and safe loading and discharge operations according to plan.

The role requires 3-6 years in cargo supervision, knowledge of tally procedures, and familiarity with shipping documents. Proficiency in MS Office and strong English communication are essential, with Arabic or French

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Shipping, Marine, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-6 years of experience as a cargo supervisor, tally supervisor, or in similar vessel/port operations.
• Sound knowledge of cargo handling, tally procedures, and shipping documents (Mate's Receipt, Statement of Facts, Bills of Lading).
• Experience dealing with vessel masters, chief officers, stevedores, and port authorities.
• Strong attention to detail and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer operations and MS Office.
• Good English communication skills; Arabic or French is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and outdoors.
• Awareness of port safety rules and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Vessel Master Coordination: Meet with the vessel's master to discuss cargo operation plans and requirements.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed cargo tally sheets and obtain signatures; prepare sailing documents.
• Cargo Condition Monitoring: Monitor cargo condition before and during loading and discharge.
• Cargo Reporting: Check and document daily cargo figures including Remaining On Board (ROB).
• Damage Reporting: Inspect cargo for damage and prepare cargo damage reports when required.
• PRO Liaison: Coordinate with the duty PRO for movement, clearance procedures and crew changes.
• Systems: Update and maintain system records accurately and on time.

The role involves coordinating with the vessel's master and crew, ensuring accurate cargo documentation and making sure loading and discharge operations are completed safely and as planned.

Key Responsibilities

Vessel Master Coordination

Meet with the vessel's master to discuss cargo operation plans and requirements.

Documentation

Prepare and maintain detailed cargo tally sheets recording quantity, type, markings, and other cargo details and obtain the Chief Officer's signature on them. Keep all tally records accurate and up to date. Prepare sailing documents including the Mate's Receipt and Statement of Facts to complete cargo operations.

Cargo Condition Monitoring

Monitor cargo condition before and during loading discharge to ensure safe handling and ensure operations follow the agreed plan and schedule.

Cargo Reporting

Check and document daily cargo figures including Remaining On Board (ROB) and report them to the vessel operator.

Damage Reporting

Inspect cargo for damage and prepare cargo damage reports where required.

PRO Liaison

Coordinate with the duty PRO for vessel inward/outward movements, clearance procedures and crew changes as required.

Systems
