Job summary

GEMS Royal Dubai School is seeking a dynamic Business Studies teacher to support its growing secondary phase. You will deliver high-quality lessons, drive entrepreneurial thinking and secure strong progress for students in Business, Economics or related subjects.

You will contribute to establishing a new department and collaborate with colleagues across two campuses, upholding the school's high standards and Royal Standard ethos.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification and degree in Business, Economics or closely related subject.
• Experience teaching Business Studies at secondary level, including examination courses.
• Proven record of securing strong student outcomes.
• Excellent classroom practice, behaviour management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Business Studies lessons aligned with examination specifications.
• Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation.
• Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and provide feedback.
• Develop curriculum planning, resourcing, assessment and moderation for GCSE and post-16 pathways as the secondary phase grows.
• Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families.
• Contribute to wider school life through enrichment and pastoral duties.
• Engage in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.

Job Purpose:

To deliver consistently excellent business studies teaching that inspires entrepreneurial thinking, develops students’ understanding of organisations, markets, finance and decision‑making, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will be strategic to the development of Business Studies across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.

• Plan and deliver consistently excellent, engaging Business Studies lessons aligned with the relevant examination specification, using strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to develop commercial awareness, analytical thinking, problem‑solving and the application of business concepts to real‑world contexts.
• Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
• Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
• Develop Business curriculum planning, resourcing, assessment and moderation, and prepare for future GCSE and post‑16 Business pathways as the secondary phase grows.
• Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
• Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra‑curricular activities and community events.
• Demonstrate a reflective, solution‑focused High‑Performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
• Promote and safeguard students’ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will have:
