Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group seeks a BMS Engineer Specialist for Data Centre Design in the UAE. You will design, develop and coordinate BMS solutions for hyperscale facilities, ensuring reliability, energy efficiency and redundancy.

Responsibilities include developing control sequences, reviewing shop drawings, integrating BMS with EPMS/DCIM, and coordinating with mechanical, electrical and ICT teams across lifecycle stages from concept through IFC. 5+ years of data centre BMS design is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in BMS design/engineering for data centers.
• Experience with hyperscale or Tier III/IV facilities is preferred.
• Experience in engineering design consultancy is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and coordinate BMS solutions across data centre projects.
• Develop and review BMS architecture, S&S, I/O lists, and specs.
• Coordinate BMS controls for chillers, CRAH/CRAC, pumps and cooling systems.
• Interface with EPMS, DCIM, UPS, generators and third-party systems.

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, ICT, ELV and other disciplines.
• Review submissions, shop drawings, control strategies and equipment schedules.

BMS Engineer Specialist – Data Centre Design

At Syska Hennessy Group, we're looking for an experienced BMS Engineer – Data Centre Design who can turn complex engineering requirements into intelligent, reliable, and resilient building management solutions.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the design of mission‑critical data centres, where precision, system integration, and operational reliability are essential.

What You'll Be Doing

As our BMS Specialist, you'll take an active role in the design, development, and coordination of BMS solutions across data centre projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and review BMS architecture, control schematics, points lists, I/O schedules, sequences of operation, and technical specifications.
• Design and coordinate BMS controls for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, fan wall units, chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, and other critical HVAC equipment.
• Coordinate BMS interfaces with EPMS, DCIM, UPS, generators, electrical infrastructure, and third‑party systems.
• Contribute to all stages of design, from concept and schematic design through detailed design, tender documentation, and IFC packages.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, ICT, ELV, and other engineering disciplines to deliver fully coordinated solutions.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, control strategies, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.
• Develop and review control sequences that support redundancy, energy efficiency, resilience, and fail‑safe operation.
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, commissioning activities, functional testing, and integrated systems testing (IST).

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in BMS design and engineering.
• Proven involvement in data center projects, preferably hyperscale, Tier III, or Tier IV facilities.
• Previous experience within an engineering design consultancy is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of BMS architecture, control strategies, and building automation systems.
• Demonstrated experience designing controls for mission‑critical cooling and HVAC infrastructure.
• Proficiency in developing sequences of operation, control diagrams, points lists, and BMS technical specifications.
• Experience with BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP, and other relevant communication protocols.
• Familiarity with BMS platforms such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls.
• Knowledge of BMS integration with EPMS, DCIM, and other monitoring platforms.
• Understanding of ASHRAE guidelines, applicable industry standards, and data centre redundancy requirements.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and relevant engineering design tools.
