Job summary

Ajman University in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician to maintain the Dental Equipment in the College of Dentistry, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

You will conduct routine maintenance, install and calibrate new devices, train staff and students, manage inventory, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with suppliers to address breakdowns, while upholding high standards of quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• A diploma or bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or technology.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a biomedical technician.
• Experience with dental equipment is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance checks on biomedical equipment (dental equipment).
• Install new dental equipment and calibrate per manufacturer specifications.
• Train staff and students to operate and care for equipment with hands-on demonstrations.
• Update inventory and place orders for equipment or spare-parts; verify deliveries.
• Prepare technical reports and review technical offers.
• Repair faculty machinery on a routine basis and respond to emergency repairs.
• Maintain daily maintenance reports about breakdowns in the College.
• Ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards and complies with laws.
• Communicate with suppliers and report any breakdowns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Biomedical Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining the Dental Equipment in the College of Dentistry to ensure well-functioning of all the equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing routine maintenance checks on Biomedical equipment (Dental Equipment).

Installing new Dental equipment and do the required adjustment as per manufacturer specifications.

Training staff members and students to operate and acre for equipment with physical demonstration.

Updating the inventory, placing orders for dental equipment or spare-parts as required and verifying deliveries.

Preparing the technical reports and reviewing the technical offers.

Repairing faculty machinery on a routine basis and tending to emergency repairs as needed.

Maintaining a daily maintenance report about the breakdowns in the College.

Ensuring that all equipment meets company standards of safety and quality, and its compliance with relevant laws.

Communicating and following up with suppliers, companies and report any breakout.

Performing other duties as assigned by the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

A diploma / bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or technology, or a similar field.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a biomedical technician.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex information in layman's terms.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of the structure and uses of dental equipment.

Technical skills and the ability to repair machinery with meticulous attention to detail.
