Job summary

Binance is seeking a Backend Architect on the Pay&Card Team to architect and build card-related systems end to end, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure that supports card systems and lifecycle management.

You will lead the design of certification processes, manage card issuing and lifecycle, and ensure compliance with payment networks. This is a hands-on builder role with scope across product, engineering and compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with Java/Spring
• Experience building or maintaining a card system
• Experience with card certification processes and onboarding

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain backend systems for card issuing and lifecycle management
• Lead the technical design and implementation of card certification processes (Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay / Google Pay onboarding)
• Define system architecture, service boundaries, and integration patterns for card platform services
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with payment network standards
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specs
• Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and technical documentation
• Work hands-on — this is a builder role
