Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic pipeline and piping design engineering, calculations, and technical analyses under supervision.
- Complete routine assignments using approved engineering procedures, standards, and project requirements.
- Prepare clear calculations, design notes, reports, procedures, and supporting technical documents.
- Organize assigned tasks to meet deadlines established by lead and senior engineers.
- Communicate technical information clearly and ask questions when instructions, assumptions, or requirements need clarification.
- Develop an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, deliverables, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Prepare and review material take‑offs for equipment and material requisitions, verifying quantities, descriptions, material classes, sizes, ratings, and supporting references.
- Review vendor documents with guidance from experienced engineering colleagues.
- Track comments and assist with confirming that supplier submissions meet project requirements.
- Develop awareness of engineering costs, man‑hours, quantities, and procurement implications related to assigned work.
- Become familiar with P and IDs, line lists, equipment layouts, plot plans, piping specifications, and project design bases.
- Interpret process and layout information required for piping and pipeline calculations.
- Assist with preparing special piping item lists and associated technical data sheets.
- Support the development of piping material specifications and valve specifications.
- Learn the fundamentals and code requirements governing pipe stress calculations; develop working familiarity with Caesar II and assist with straightforward pipe stress analysis.
- Support calculations for pipe wall thickness, reinforcement pads, trunnion supports, and related piping components.
- Assist with the preparation of material requisitions for engineered piping equipment.
- Prepare supporting information for technical queries and requests for clarification.
- Contribute to technical bid evaluations under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with purchase requisitions for piping materials, valves, special items, and engineered equipment.
- Review supplier quotations and technical submissions against approved requisitions.
- Support engineering checks of vendor drawings, calculations, data sheets, certificates, and manufacturing information.
- Coordinate with engineers, design supervisors, and designers within the piping and pipeline discipline.
- Provide timely technical information required for drawings, models, calculations, and procurement activities.
- Maintain organized records of calculations, requisitions, technical queries, vendor comments, and design inputs.
- Incorporate approved review comments into engineering documents and calculations.
- Follow company procedures for technical review, document control, quality assurance, and engineering approval.
- Learn relevant international codes, engineering standards, and project‑specific guidelines.
- Develop familiarity with current design techniques, analysis methods, and software applications.
- Apply Health, Safety, and Environment principles throughout assigned engineering work.
- Maintain awareness of Total Quality Management and project cost considerations.
- Support fabrication yards, construction sites, or other engineering departments when reassigned.
- Assist colleagues during periods of high workload, illness, leave, or project priority changes.
- Complete proper handovers when responsibilities are transferred between engineers or departments.
- Participate actively in mentoring, technical training, and professional development activities.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 0-3 years of experience in pipeline, piping, mechanical, or Oil and Gas engineering.
- Recent graduates with relevant internships, academic projects, or engineering software exposure may be considered.
- Engineer in Training registration or membership in a recognized professional engineering society is preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering, piping systems, materials, and design calculations.
- Familiarity with engineering codes, standards, technical specifications, and project documentation.
- Basic understanding of P and IDs, equipment layouts, line lists, plot plans, and piping specifications.
- Interest in piping material engineering, valve specifications, pipe stress analysis, and procurement support.
- Familiarity with Caesar II or comparable pipe stress software is advantageous.
- Ability to prepare and review technical calculations carefully.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Strong willingness to learn from senior engineers, designers, vendors, and project specialists.
- Careful attention to dimensions, material grades, pressure ratings, quantities, and calculation inputs.
