Em Sherif Sea Café in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to oversee the Front of House, uphold excellent customer service, and ensure health and safety standards. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, you will drive daily operations and guest satisfaction.

You will lead the FOH team, manage service at peak times, and coordinate with BOH, ensuring adherence to Em Sherif Sea Café policies while maximizing efficiency and profits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (oral and written).
• Minimum 1 year as Assistant restaurant manager or 3 years as floor supervisor.
• Experience in Lebanese/Oriental restaurant is preferred.

Job Description

Reporting to the Restaurant manager and following all Em Sherif Sea Café policies and procedures, the Assistant restaurant manager is responsible for the overall performance of the FOH section, including but not limited to maintaining excellent customer service, and health and safety standards.

DUTIES AND TASKS

Front of House Management

• Achieve operational objectives by:
• Assisting the Restaurant manager in preparing and completing action plans for the FOH team including daily responsibilities
• Adhering to production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
• Resolving FOH team issues and guest complaints
• Manage and supervise the FOH team and the FOH daily operations to ensure that it operates efficiently
• Stay updated on all Em Sherif Sea Café policies, memos, procedures, promotions, etc. and communicate changes to the team
• Continuously improve operational execution through attention to detail and adherence to operating standards and philosophies, maximizing profits and minimizing costs
• Control FOH operations (including but not limited to product quality and presentation, staff/workplace health and safety, service standards, maintenance and hygiene of facilities, equipment, entertainment, guest satisfaction, etc.)
• Delegate tasks among team members
• Monitor the cleanliness and set up of the dining area throughout the service period
• Be present at restaurant opening and closing
• Ensure proper and efficient communication between BOH and FOH staff by constantly communicating with the Head chef, in the absence of the Restaurant manager
• Ensure adequate staffing of the FOH team at all times
• Stay updated on all Em Sherif Sea Café services, entertainment, Food and Beverages offering; communicate daily changes to the team
• Update and review the daily restaurant logbook
• Follow up on all FOH maintenance issues
• Help in any area of the restaurant when circumstances dictate
• Maintain a favorable relationship with all Em Sherif Sea Café employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximizing morale, productivity and efficiency

Guest service

• Make sure to deliver a personalized service to all guests
• Monitor guests’ experience and ensure satisfaction by responding promptly and courteously to any special requests
• Manage service delivery to ensure excellence from guest arrival to departure
• Visit tables to ensure guest satisfaction and handle complaints; respond promptly to special requests and redirect guest complaints to the Restaurant manager when necessary
• Ensure timely delivery of guest’s orders
• Review guest satisfaction results (collected through multiple-visits guests’ feedback) with employees to develop appropriate corrective action
• Identify guests’ preferences in order to anticipate their need
• Knowledgeable about all Em Sherif Sea Café service procedures, Food and Beverages to be able to inform guests and answer any related questions

Procurement

• Control product inventory and order supplies for the FOH service section
• Ensure that stock levels are always as per the set Em Sherif Sea Café par levels and operational requirements

Personnel management

• Assist the Restaurant manager in identifying FOH training needs
• Ensure that FOH employees are treated fairly and equitably; strive to improve employee retentio
• Attend daily and weekly briefings with the FOH team to discuss the restaurant’s operations
• Train the FOH personnel; communicate performance feedback to Restaurant manager
• Ensure that all FOH staff are correctly dressed and groomed as per Em Sherif Sea Café’s standards
• Assist the Restaurant manager in creating appropriate development plans based on FOH employees’ individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities
• Supervise FOH employees and ensure that daily checklists have been completed by the appropriate employees

Accounting

• Review the Daily POS sales report and approve any discounts/complimentary food offered to guests in the absence of the Restaurant manager
• Approve of and sign the Daily deposit of restaurant cash (Daily sales) in the absence of the Restaurant manager

Administration

• Ensure that all daily administrative tasks are completed effectively and in a timely manner
• Prepare the FOH weekly schedule and ensure that all employees adhere to their schedule

Work Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year as Assistant restaurant manager or 3 years as a Floor supervisor, preferably in a Lebanese/Oriental restaurant

Education requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Management or accumulated years of experience and proven capability in management
• Excellent command of English and Arabic (both oral and written)
