Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Sharjah invites applications for Pharmacy Assistant to support pharmacists in daily operations and clerical duties. You will welcome patients, process prescriptions, manage inventory, and ensure MOH compliance within the pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an appropriate license to work as an Assistant Pharmacist with all mandated qualifications.
  • Must manage ongoing professional re-licensure.
  • Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
  • Willing to work across departments when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet patients/customers as they enter the pharmacy.
  • Dispense accurately in correct dosage and packaging per prescription.
  • Work closely with pharmacy staff; train and develop staff when necessary.
  • Ensure every patient is attended to and satisfied.
  • Maintain inventory and locate medicines as per prescription.
  • Properly maintain stock and prevent non-moving items.
  • Handle phone calls and provide information to customers.
  • Implement and improve MOH-compliant Quality SOPs.
  • Ensure MOH compliance and keep documents up to date.
  • Coordinate with clinic staff to escort patients to the pharmacy.
  • Liquidation of pharmacy stock and management of shelf life.

Job Description:


Pharmacy assistants assist pharmacists by performing all clerical duties necessary to ensure that a pharmacy is running efficiently. They answer telephone calls, manage the cash register, and restock shelves with medication and other pharmaceutical supplies. Responsible for overall management of pharmacy from MOH and organization perspective.


Responsibilities


  • Responsible to welcome and greet patients/customers as they enter the pharmacy.

  • Dispensing must be performed accurately in an orderly manner in the correct dosage & quantity as prescribed by the physician with clear instructions and in a package that maintains the potency of the medicine.

  • Work closely with pharmacy staff. Facilitate, induct, train & develop staff on their job When necessary and encourage effective teamwork.

  • Ensure every patient walk’s in has been taken care and nobody is left unattended and unsatisfied.

  • Responsible for maintenance of medicine /general products on the rack and ensure to locate the correct medicine from the rack as per prescription.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of inventory and make sure it is handled properly.

  • Under no circumstances lying of medicine on pharmacy floor would be entertained. Strict action would be taken against any pharmacist violating this procedure.

  • Responsible to handle phone calls in the pharmacy and provide information to customer queries.

  • Responsible to implement and Improve Quality SOPs in the pharmacy as per MOH guidelines and work closely with Quality Manager.

  • Ensure the pharmacy coordinators are escorting all clinic patients to our pharmacy.

  • Ensure the pharmacy is MOH compliant and update all the documents regularly and kept in the pharmacy.


Liquidation


  • Responsible for Liquidation of pharmacy stock.

  • Ensure to have a proper plan to liquidate product with short shelf life to avoid non-moving and expiry issues.

  • Responsible to notify purchase coordinator of slow and fast-moving products from the ERP

  • Give priority to non-moving stock for OTC.

  • Prepare and submit a monthly report of non-moving items from the rack to the purchase coordinator and responsible for liquidation of non-moving product.


Qualifications

Essential: the post holder must



  • Have an appropriate license to work as a Assistant Pharmacist in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.

  • Manage their own professional re-licensure.

  • Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.

  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary.

  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)


DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:



  • Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team.

  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation.
