Job summary

NMC GROUP SERVICES in Dubai is seeking a dedicated nursing/assistant midwife to support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Midwife. You will help with daily living tasks, document care, and ensure a patient-centered approach.

Ideal candidates hold a nursing/assistant licence, BLS card, and strong English; Arabic is a plus. You will work across departments, use EMR systems, and participate in emergency response.

Qualifications

• Appropriate licence to work as an assistant nurse/assistant midwife in the relevant regulatory health authority and manage professional re-licensure.
• Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
• Willingness to work across departments when necessary.
• Clear and effective communication in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to work as part of an inter-professional team (desirable).
• Organizational and administrative skills with ability to use electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation (desirable).
• Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall planning and delivery of nursing/midwifery care for patients under supervision.
• Assist in activities of daily living for patients according to the patient care plan.
• Maintain a high standard of nursing/midwifery care and document observations.
• Demonstrate service excellence and advocate for patient dignity and rights.
• Inform and document vital sign observations for Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition immediately.
• Respond to emergencies according to organisation policies and procedures.
• Facilitate post-discharge clinic visits and follow-up appointments.
• Arrange patient transportation as required.
• Maintain flow of documents for scanning if needed.
• Provide direct patient care under supervision.
• Record detailed reports in the patient’s official record.
• Reinforce physician and nurse instructions and refer new needs.
• Initiate emergency assistance and perform BLS as required.
• Perform other duties within scope as assigned.
• Ask questions for clarification and escalate when needed.

Job description

• Contribute to the overall planning and delivery of nursing/midwifery care for patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife ensuring a patient-centered approach.
• Assist in activities of daily living for patients in accordance with the patient care plan (e.g., distribution of patient meals, assisting with hygiene needs) under direction of Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife.
• Maintain a high standard of nursing/midwifery care, working within evidence-based guidelines and unit specific competencies.
• Demonstrate service excellence and act as a patient advocate to support patients’ dignity and rights.
• Inform Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife of vital sign observations and care provided and document appropriately.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition and reactions to care to Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife immediately.
• Respond to emergencies according to organisation policies and procedures.
• Facilitate post discharge clinic visits and/or tests, including scheduling follow-up and referral appointments.
• Arrange patient transportation as required.
• Maintain flow of documents for scanning if needed.
• Provide direct patient care according to the therapeutic plan and individual patient needs as directed and under supervision.
• Assist Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife in preparation and maintenance of effective patient care plan.
• Record detailed reports of care given in the patient’s official record reflecting the therapeutic and patient care plan.
• Reinforce instructions given to the patient by physician and Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife and refer new instructional needs to them.
• Initiate emergency assistance as per policies and perform Basic Life Support as per regulatory requirements and scope.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife within scope of practice.
• Ask questions for clarification when in doubt and elevate/seek expert advice when unable or not competent to undertake required care.
