Job summary

Confidential Company is seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel to review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts in logistics. You will ensure legal compliance, assess risks, and provide timely guidance to leadership on liabilities, indemnities and dispute matters.

The role requires 5–7 years PQE, strong contract law expertise, and excellent negotiation and drafting skills to support procurement, operations and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
  • 5–7 years post-qualification experience in logistics, supply chain, or commercial contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, liability frameworks and risk management.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including warehousing, freight forwarding, transportation service, vendor contracts, NDAs and SLAs.
  • Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements, industry standards and internal policies.
  • Identify legal risks and propose practical business-focused solutions.
  • Provide timely legal advice to operations, commercial, procurement and senior leadership on interpretation, liabilities, indemnities and disputes.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance affecting logistics operations, including transportation, customs, safety, data protection and cross-border trade.
  • Conduct risk assessments and create mitigation strategies for contract exposures.
  • Collaborate with business units to reflect accurate service scopes and responsibilities in contracts.
  • Support commercial teams during negotiations to secure favorable, compliant terms.
  • Coordinate with external counsel when specialized expertise is needed.
  • Contribute to development of contract templates, guidelines and governance.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to logistics and commercial contracting.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Review draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including warehousing agreements, freight forwarding contracts, transportation service agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and customer SLAs.
  • Ensure all contracts adhere to relevant legal requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Identify legal risks and propose practical business‑oriented solutions.
  • Provide timely legal advice to operational, commercial, procurement, and senior leadership teams on contract interpretation, liabilities, indemnities, insurance requirements, and dispute‑related matters.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance impacting logistics operations, including transportation regulations, customs compliance, safety standards, data protection, and cross‑border trade requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and create mitigation strategies for contract‑related exposures.
  • Partner with business units to understand operational needs and ensure contracts reflect accurate service scopes and responsibilities.
  • Support commercial teams during customer negotiations, offering legal insight to secure favorable and compliant terms.
  • Coordinate with external counsel when specialized expertise is required.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of contract templates, legal guidelines, and governance frameworks.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to logistics, supply chain, and commercial contracting.
Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
  • 5–7 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably in logistics, supply chain, or commercial contracting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contract law, liability frameworks, and risk management.
  • Experience with warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, or logistics contracts is highly desirable.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
