Qualifications

• B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification in Art.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.
• Experience delivering Art within a British curriculum setting.
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge across visual art disciplines.
• Ability to motivate and develop students' artistic skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons aligned with the National Curriculum of England and relevant examination requirements.
• Develop students' skills in drawing, painting, mixed media, design, composition and other visual art techniques.

• Build students' understanding of colour, form, texture, line, tone and visual communication.
• Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level or other applicable Art assessments where relevant.
• Establish clear progression in technical ability, creative thinking and critical analysis across the curriculum.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and identify individual development needs.

Role Context

The Art Teacher will help students develop technical skill, visual literacy, creativity, confidence and independent artistic thinking. The role requires an educator who can teach both practical and conceptual aspects of Art while supporting students to experiment with materials, refine techniques and communicate ideas through visual outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Build students ' understanding of colour, form, texture, line, tone, perspective, composition and visual communication.
• Apply evidence-informed teaching approaches that strengthen retention, technical understanding and independent application.
• Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level or other applicable Art assessments where relevant.
• Establish clear progression in technical ability, creative thinking and critical analysis across the curriculum.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and identify individual development needs.
• Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve technique, experimentation, refinement and presentation.
• Differentiate lessons so students with different levels of ability can participate successfully and achieve meaningful progress.
• Create a well-organised studio environment that supports creativity while maintaining safe and responsible use of tools and materials.
• Encourage students to take creative risks, develop personal artistic responses and reflect critically on their own work.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, moderation, exhibitions and departmental development.

Ideal Profile

• B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification in Art or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.

• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge across a range of visual art disciplines.
• Demonstrated record of high-quality teaching and positive student outcomes.
