Job summary

GEMS Royal Dubai School in Dubai seeks an Art & Design Technician to join the Secondary phase for a January 2027 start. You will assist teachers, prepare labs and materials, and help develop our Art and Design & Technology provision.

The role emphasizes health and safety, supports practical learning, and requires good English, basic IT/CAD knowledge, and the ability to organise resources. Applicants should be prepared to engage with students across multiple year groups.

Qualifications

• Good level of general education especially in Math and English.
• First aid certificate.
• Health and safety training using DT equipment and machinery.
• Strong communication skills with excellent standard of written and spoken English.
• Able to handle and a range of tasks, work under pressure and relate well to children.
• Basic knowledge of IT and/or CAD (computer aided design).
• Experience in some form of practical subject/profession.
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant or working with children.

Responsibilities

• Prepare labs, rooms, resources and equipment as directed by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher with DT/ART/Food related activities.
• Maintain orderly workspaces ensuring readiness for the next lesson.
• Run small group activities inside or outside the classroom as directed by the teacher.
• Organise stock and resources.
• Create work displays and assist with preparation of displays.
• Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are always followed.
• Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.
