Job summary

AECOM in Dubai, UAE is seeking an experienced Architectural Engineer to lead and coordinate architectural design and engineering matters during the construction stage of building projects.

The role serves as a technical interface between the Site Supervision Team, Contractor, Design Team, suppliers and specialist subcontractors, with responsibility for architectural submissions, multidisciplinary coordination and constructability challenges on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering.
• 10-15 years of relevant professional experience.
• Previous experience working on building projects.
• Previous site supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate architectural design and engineering matters arising during the construction stage.
• Act as the main focal point between Site Supervision Team, Contractor, Design Team, suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, samples, mock-ups, technical proposals and as-built drawings.
• Ensure the Contractor prepares and maintains a detailed schedule covering architectural engineering submissions, approvals, procurement and site activities.
• Monitor the Contractor's submission programme and ensure required documentation is submitted sufficiently in advance to support the construction programme.
• Coordinate architectural requirements with structural, civil, MEP, landscape, facade and other disciplines.
• Lead architectural technical and progress meetings and track outstanding actions through closure.
• Provide regular reports to the Site Line Manager and highlight risks affecting design coordination, procurement, progress, completion or handover.
• Ensure technical decisions, instructions and approvals are documented and communicated through approved project channels.
• Escalate unresolved technical matters, non-compliance, delays and other significant risks to the Project Manager or Resident Engineer as appropriate.

Architectural Coordination and Site Supervision

The Architectural Engineer will oversee architectural engineering activities throughout construction, ensuring submissions, approvals and technical decisions remain aligned with project requirements and the construction programme. Close coordination with the Contractor and other engineering disciplines will be essential to identify interface issues and resolve matters that could affect progress or handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate architectural design and engineering matters arising during the construction stage.
• Act as the main focal point between the Site Supervision Team, Contractor, Design Team, suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Review architectural RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, samples, mock-ups, technical proposals and as-built drawings.
• Ensure the Contractor prepares and maintains a detailed schedule covering architectural engineering submissions, approvals, procurement and site activities.
• Monitor the Contractor 's submission programme and ensure required documentation is submitted sufficiently in advance to support the construction programme.
• Follow up on the appointment and mobilization of qualified architectural suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Review supplier and specialist subcontractor submission and procurement schedules.
• Identify delayed submissions, approvals, material procurement, supplier appointments or engineering activities that could affect construction progress.
• Coordinate architectural requirements with structural, civil, MEP, landscape, facade and other relevant disciplines.
• Address architectural interfaces and constructability issues through coordinated technical review.
