Job summary

Copeland Dubai seeks an experienced professional to drive application engineering, support OEMs in HVAC product selection and system design, and coordinate region-wide testing and documentation. The role focuses on optimizing variable-speed air-conditioning systems and collaborating across multicultural teams.

The position also delivers hands-on technical training, develops training programs, and maintains tools and facilities for effective knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in HVAC design projects, service, technical support or training in the air-conditioning industry.
• Willingness to travel across the MEA region and work outside typical office environments when required.

Responsibilities

• Application Engineering Support: Guide OEMs, assist with product selection software, design simulators, optimize variable-speed systems, coordinate testing, manage technical docs, explore new opportunities, and lead New Business Opportunities in MEA with Sales.
• Technical Training: Develop a technical training calendar, deliver hands-on training on air-conditioning systems and controllers, and manage training tools and facilities.
• Quality & Warranty Management: Manage OEM warranty claims, perform RCA with data logging and compressor teardown analysis, and provide feedback to manufacturing for product improvement, while maintaining warranty data.

Key Responsibilities

Application Engineering Support (70%)

• Work closely with OEMs providing guidance and technical solutions for both existing and new air-conditioning products.
• Support customers in the use of product selection software and system design simulators.
• Assist OEMs with the development and optimization of variable-speed air-conditioning systems supporting testing system balancing and approval processes.
• Coordinate testing with the psychrometric lab and manage technical documentation such as catalogs application bulletins and manuals.
• Engage OEMs on alternate refrigerants and explore new application opportunities in the region.
• Provide inputs on regional efficiency standards and collaborate with marketing to influence standard bodies (AHRI Eurovent etc.).
• Lead NBO (New Business Opportunities) initiatives for air-conditioning products in MEA in close collaboration with Sales.

Technical Training (10%)

• Develop and manage a technical training calendar and create engaging educational content.
• Deliver technical training sessions (including hands on) for customers focusing on air-conditioning systems drives and controllers.
• Manage tools resources and facilities for technical training programs.

Quality & Warranty Management (20%)

• Manage OEM warranty claims and provide troubleshooting support for both production and field failures.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) through data logging field visits and compressor teardown analysis.
• Collaborate with manufacturing plants providing feedback to improve product performance.
• Analyze and maintain warranty data to support continuous improvement initiatives.

What Were Looking For

Education & Experience:

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in HVAC design projects service technical support or training within the air-conditioning industry.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics HVAC systems and variable-speed control systems.
• Technical expertise in troubleshooting and application support.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across multicultural teams.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and technical software tools.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to travel across the MEA region.
• Ability to work outside typical office environments when required.
• Commitment to Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards and procedures.
