Job summary

ByteDance is seeking a senior backend engineer to own end-to-end Procurement Agents and the System AI Harness, building scalable AI-native services and robust data flows. You will lead AI capabilities, prototype new techniques, and partner with cross-functional teams to ship complete, reliable solutions at scale.

The role emphasizes performance, observability, and mentoring, with ownership of architecture and long-term technical roadmaps within ByteDance's Corporate Information group in the UAE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 4+ years backend development experience owning complex, medium-to-large systems end to end.
• Proficient in Golang/Java/Python with backend architecture experience.
• Solid distributed-systems foundation including messaging, databases, caching, async processing.
• Hands-on AI project experience (LLM apps, Agents, RAG, tool calls).
• Strong performance analysis, reliability engineering, and observability practices.
• Experience leading ambiguous problems to concrete, shippable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own Procurement Agents and System AI Harness end to end, from architecture to production.
• Design and evolve core backend services, data flows, integrations for AI-native procurement.
• Lead AI Agent capabilities (planning, tool use, memory, orchestration) in production.
• Prototype and evaluate emerging AI techniques for durable platform capabilities.
• Partner with product and design to deliver complete end-to-end solutions.
• Drive reliability, performance, and code quality improvements.
• Mentor teammates through reviews and architecture guidance.
• Drive mid-to-long-term technical roadmaps and evolution strategies.
• Solve complex problems with proven approaches and help the team.
