Job summary

University of Wollongong Dubai (UOWD) invites qualified Adjunct Tutors in Economics to join us for the Autumn trimester starting 21 Sep 2025. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate economics, run tutorials, and assess students while maintaining attendance records.

You will support subject coordinators and engage with a diverse international student body at Knowledge Village, Dubai. Competitive compensation and flexible teaching schedules are offered.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics or closely related field (e.g., MCom, Applied Economics, Business Economics, Development Economics).
• Bachelor’s degree in economics or business with a strong Economics component.
• Minimum 1 year’s experience teaching at bachelor's level.
• Ability to teach introductory and intermediate level economics subjects.
• Strong written and spoken English proficiency.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Willingness to engage in tutoring delivery, marking, student consultation, and administrative support for subject coordinators.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tutorials, grading and immersive learning experiences as per course outlines.

About the Programme

UOWD’s School of Business offers two undergraduate programmes;

• Bachelor of Business Administration
• Bachelor of Business – with specialisations in Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Business Analytics, Finance and Accounting

The business sector is one of the world's largest employers, offering varying roles and careers. Business plays an important role in evolving a complex global economy by providing solutions to problems in a sustainable and ethical way. The two degrees offer a broad education across all key aspects of the business environment. In addition to studying the essential core disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, the student can tailor their studies according to their interests by choosing electives from a particular Business discipline, or they can combine Business electives with subjects from other faculties. The degrees offer a holistic insight into management of business and how to work hand‑in‑hand with intermediaries and institutions. The degrees provide exposure to real world issues through opportunities to work on industry projects.

Both programs are fully accredited by the Ministry of Education in U.A.E. and in Australia. We have a good relationship with the home campus and are now finding opportunities to collaborate globally with Australia and other international campuses. In addition, we have recently moved to a brand-new campus with the latest technology and classroom design for student centred learning. This adjunct tutor position is a key hire and the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and ongoing growth of both programmes.

Requirements & Responsibilities

The School of Business is currently seeking qualified and motivated Adjunct Tutors in Economics to join us for the upcoming Autumn trimester from 21 Sep 2025.

The successful candidate will primarily teach/tutor Economics subjects at the undergraduate level.

Candidates are expected to have an approach to teaching/tutoring that is student‑centred and will be responsible for conducting tutorials, grading and other immersive learning experiences in accordance with established course outlines and lesson plans, besides maintaining student class attendance records and be available during student consultation hours,

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in economics or a closely related field (e.g., MCom, Applied Economics, Business Economics, Development Economics, International Economics).
• The degree should ideally be from an internationally recognized institution.
• Bachelor’s degree in economics or business with a strong Economics component.
• Minimum 1 years' experience teaching at the bachelor's level
• Demonstrated ability to teach introductory and intermediate level subjects such as:
• Economics Essentials for Business
• Economics and Society
• Macroeconomic Essentials for Business
• Managerial Economics and Operations Research
• Ability to work effectively with multi‑cultural environment
• Available to teach at UOWD as per class days/time scheduled by university timetabling
• Willingness to engage in tutorial delivery, marking, student consultation, and administrative support for subject coordinators.
• Strong written and spoken English proficiency.
• The successful candidate will enjoy interaction with a professional dynamic team of highly respected educators from more than 30 different countries and exposure to students from over 100 nationalities.
• The University offers adjuncts tutors at undergraduate level a compensation of AED 3000/- per hour and per semester for tutorials. This covers teaching, grading and providing subject consultation for students.
