Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and academically strong lessons across Secondary and A Level classes.
- Teach literature, language analysis, composition, critical writing, and examination preparation with strong curriculum accuracy.
- Plan differentiated lessons that support a range of student abilities while maintaining high academic expectations.
- Foster critical thinking, independent learning, and confident communication in the classroom.
- Assess, monitor, and report student progress with clear feedback and timely intervention where required.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment that supports student wellbeing and participation.
- Maintain strong classroom management and positive behaviour expectations.
- Collaborate with department colleagues to strengthen curriculum delivery and share outstanding teaching practices.
- Support students through debates, writing competitions, reading programmes, and extracurricular English activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress and student development.
- Uphold school safeguarding standards and role model the values of integrity, empathy, and fortitude.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or a bachelor’s degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching Secondary and A Level English successfully.
- Strong subject knowledge in English language and literature with advanced curriculum understanding.
- Proven track record of outstanding teaching and strong student outcomes.
- Reflective and solution‑focused mindset with commitment to continuous improvement.
- Creative and enthusiastic teaching style both inside and outside the classroom.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
