Job summary

Placements24 in Stellenbosch is seeking a passionate Youth Mentor to support local youth. You will build trusting relationships, guide academics and personal development, and serve as a positive role model.

This part-time role offers training, flexible hours including some evenings and weekends, and opportunities to impact youth outcomes through collaborative programs with families and schools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college education or relevant experience is preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents or youth programs.
• Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to youth empowerment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with assigned youth mentees.
• Provide guidance on academic pursuits, career exploration, and personal development goals.
• Facilitate life skills workshops covering topics such as communication, conflict resolution, and financial literacy.
• Act as a positive role model, demonstrating responsible behavior and ethical conduct.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, and school personnel to support youth development.
• Monitor mentee progress and provide regular feedback to the program coordinator.
