Placements24 is seeking a Youth Mentor and Skills Development Facilitator for its Paarl-based program in the Western Cape. You will guide at-risk youth, helping them identify strengths and develop practical life and vocational skills in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The role involves delivering workshops, mentoring individuals, and collaborating with partners to create pathways to internships or further study. A relevant qualification and youth-focused experience are preferred.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking non-profit organization dedicated to empowering at-risk youth through skills development and mentorship, is seeking an inspiring Youth Mentor and Skills Development Facilitator to join their program in Paarl, Western Cape . This role involves guiding and supporting young individuals, helping them to identify their strengths, develop practical life and vocational skills, and build confidence for future success. You will create a positive and engaging learning environment, fostering personal growth and enabling participants to achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth development, strong facilitation skills, and a nurturing approach, serving the community of Paarl, Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging workshops focused on life skills, employability skills, and vocational training.
• Provide one‑on‑one mentorship and guidance to young participants, setting personal development goals.
• Facilitate group activities, discussions, and team‑building exercises.
• Assess participant progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development journey.
• Connect youth with potential employment opportunities, internships, or further education pathways.
• Maintain positive relationships with participants, their families, and relevant community organizations.
• Document participant progress, session outcomes, and any challenges encountered.
• Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with the program team to continuously improve curriculum and delivery methods.
• Act as a role model, demonstrating positive attitudes and professional conduct.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 2-3 years of experience working with youth, preferably in a mentorship, training, or facilitation role.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and the challenges faced by young people.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and build rapport with diverse groups of young people.
• Experience in curriculum development or workshop design is an asset.
• Patience, empathy, and a non‑judgmental approach.
• Organizational skills to manage schedules and participant records.
• Familiarity with the Paarl, Western Cape area and its youth challenges is advantageous.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.
