Job summary

A leading non-profit organization in Cape Town is seeking a qualified Social Worker to provide psychosocial support, advocacy, and intervention for at-risk youth. You will work with schools, families, and community partners to empower young people and promote their well-being.

The role involves assessments, individualized plans, counseling, group sessions, and coordination of youth programs while upholding high ethical standards and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in social work focusing on youth development or child welfare.
• Experience in counseling, casework, and group facilitation.
• Strong understanding of child psychology, adolescent development, and youth issues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments to determine needs and strengths of youth.
• Develop and implement individualized support plans and intervention strategies.
• Provide counseling and casework services to youths facing challenges such as trauma or substance use.
• Lead group sessions on life skills, emotional regulation, and personal development.
• Collaborate with schools, families, and community agencies to build supportive networks.
• Advocate for youth rights and access to education, healthcare, and services.
• Organize and coordinate youth programs promoting positive engagement.
• Maintain confidential client records following ethical standards.
• Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Stay informed about youth welfare policies and resources.
