Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a vibrant non-profit organization committed to empowering young people through skills development and mentorship, is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Program Officer for their activities in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is vital in designing, implementing, and managing programs that equip youth with essential life skills, career guidance, and opportunities for personal growth. You will work directly with youth, community leaders, and partner organizations to foster a supportive environment for young people's development. The ideal candidate is energetic, passionate about youth empowerment, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills. This is an on-site position requiring active community involvement in Kimberley .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging youth development programs focusing on life skills, leadership, and career readiness.
• Recruit and mentor participants for various program activities and initiatives.
• Organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and recreational activities for youth.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with youth, parents, schools, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to create internship and job placement opportunities.
• Monitor participant progress and provide individual support and guidance as needed.
• Manage program logistics, including scheduling, venue coordination, and resource allocation.
• Collect program data and prepare reports on activities, achievements, and challenges.
• Contribute to program planning, evaluation, and the development of new initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Youth Work, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working directly with youth in program delivery or development.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating workshops and training sessions for young people.
• Strong understanding of youth development principles and challenges faced by young people in South Africa.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
• Proven ability to build rapport and trust with diverse groups of young people.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of the Kimberley and Northern Cape community landscape is advantageous.
• Proficiency in relevant local languages is a plus.
