Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of direct experience with children and youth in residential settings.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and protection principles.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle crises calmly and effectively.
• Good record-keeping and reporting abilities.
• Valid driver’s license is an asset for Centurion coordination.
• Clear criminal record and vetting compliance.
• Passion for child welfare and positive youth outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of Child and Youth Care Workers, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure the implementation of daily care routines, activities, and therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and emotionally supportive environment for all children and youth.
• Oversee the well-being of residents, including health, education, and emotional development.
• Develop and implement program activities that promote personal growth, social skills, and life skills.
• Conduct regular case reviews and contribute to the development of care plans.
• Liaise with external agencies, such as schools, social services, and healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and standards related to child care.
• Manage the facility's resources efficiently, including supplies and equipment.
• Serve as a role model for both staff and residents, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
