Job summary

Maxiflex Door Systems SA is seeking a seasoned Workshop Mechanic/Production specialist in Johannesburg. You will oversee workshop operations, manage staff workloads, read technical drawings, and apply technical instructions while ensuring safety and production targets are met.

The role requires 5 years of relevant experience, welding capabilities, and proficiency with MS Office. A valid South African driver’s license is essential for site visits and logistics.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with a technical certificate and a tertiary trade qualification.
  • Tertiary production and stock management qualification is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Workshop Mechanic or 5 years in a factory/production environment, preferably in construction.
  • Competence in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Job description

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL, TECHNICAL AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent Technical certificate, and Tertiary Trade qualification
  • Tertiary Production and Stock management related qualification will be advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Workshop Mechanic OR 5 years in a Factory / Production environment, preferably in the Construction sector – Construction industry knowledge is required
  • Competence in IT systems: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Ability to understand, interpret, implement and delegate technical instructions
  • Ability to perform basic electrical applications and to work with hand tools and power tools
  • Ability and experience in working at heights
  • Technical fault finding and solution application
  • Welding experience: Tig, Arc, CO2, and Spot welding
  • Risk assessment qualification and good knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Managerial skills to manage the entire workshop, oversee workshop staff and co-ordinate their workloads
  • Ability to develop, implement and maintain production systems
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Valid SA driver’s licence with own transport
