About the Role

Our client, a prestigious winery group situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Wine Logistics Coordinator to manage the intricate supply chain for their award-winning wines. Based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape , this role is critical for ensuring the timely, safe, and compliant distribution of wines to local and international markets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the wine industry's specific logistical challenges, including temperature control, regulatory compliance for alcohol transport, and export documentation. You will be instrumental in optimizing inventory management, coordinating with transport providers, and maintaining strong relationships with our distribution partners. Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the movement of wine from cellars to storage facilities, bottling plants, and ultimately to domestic and international customers. Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate stocktaking across various locations. Arrange and manage freight and transportation, including road, sea, and air, for both local and export shipments. Ensure compliance with all South African and international regulations pertaining to the transport of alcoholic beverages. Prepare and process all necessary export documentation, including customs declarations and shipping manifests. Liaise with winemakers, cellar staff, sales teams, and external logistics providers to ensure smooth operations. Monitor shipment conditions, particularly temperature control, to maintain wine quality during transit. Resolve any logistical issues or discrepancies that may arise during the transportation process. Optimize shipping routes and methods to achieve cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries. Maintain accurate records of all logistical activities, costs, and delivery performance metrics.

Requirements

Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management, with a preference for experience within the wine or beverage industry. A strong understanding of the complexities involved in wine transportation and storage. Familiarity with export procedures, customs regulations, and international shipping requirements. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in inventory management systems and logistics software. Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively work with suppliers and partners. Attention to detail is paramount, especially concerning documentation and compliance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. A valid driver's license and reliable transport to the Stellenbosch, Western Cape workplace.
