Job summary

University of Fort Hare seeks an experienced Business Development Manager or Technical Sales professional in the water pumping sector to grow the business across key infrastructure and industrial markets in the Western Cape.

The role focuses on developing new opportunities, managing strategic relationships, and delivering technically suitable pumping solutions to customers and channel partners while traveling to meet stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in technical sales or business development in technical equipment.
• Experience in pumps or water infrastructure beneficial.
• CRM and sales reporting experience.
• Strong English communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth across assigned market segments and product solutions.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the water pump and wastewater pump market.
• Build and maintain relationships with engineering consultants, contractors, developers
• Develop business through direct sales as well as appointed dealers and distribution partners
• Provide ongoing technical and commercial support to dealers and customers
• Identify project opportunities and engage with stakeholders from specification through to delivery
• Work with internal technical teams to recommend suitable equipment based on customer and project requirements
• Implement agreed sales and marketing initiatives to grow market share
• Monitor pricing and commercial activity within the assigned territory
• Manage customer relationships and ensure accurate CRM records and sales activity tracking
• Develop account and territory plans to support future sales growth
• Assist with resolving customer or dealer issues and maintaining strong channel relationships
• Travel regularly to customers, projects, dealers and industry stakeholders
