Placements24 is seeking a Wellsite Geologist for an immediate assignment in the Klerksdorp area. This hands-on role requires real-time geological analysis and decision-making during drilling to monitor formation evaluation and ensure drilling objectives are met safely and efficiently.

You will examine rock cuttings and core samples, correlate geological data with offset wells, operate wellsite laboratory equipment, and prepare daily reports detailing tops and significant findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related earth science.
• Minimum 3 years as Wellsite Geologist in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with lithology, microscopic analysis, and basic geochemical methods.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Wellsite Geologist for immediate assignment in the Klerksdorp area. This hands-on role involves real-time geological analysis and decision-making during drilling operations. You will be responsible for the detailed examination of rock cuttings, core samples, and drilling data to monitor formation evaluation, correlation, and ensure drilling objectives are met safely and efficiently. This position is crucial for guiding drilling decisions and ensuring data integrity in the Oil & Gas exploration and production process.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze rock cuttings and core samples for lithology, mineralogy, and potential hydrocarbon indicators.
• Monitor drilling parameters and correlate geological data with offset wells in real-time.
• Provide timely geological advice and recommendations to the drilling crew and management.
• Operate and maintain wellsite geological laboratory equipment.
• Prepare daily geological reports detailing formation tops, drilling progress, and significant findings.
• Ensure adherence to company protocols for sample handling, data acquisition, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Wellsite Geologist in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven ability in lithological description, microscopic examination, and basic geochemical analysis.
• Familiarity with downhole logging tools and data interpretation.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail under pressure.
• Ability to work extended shifts on remote well sites and adapt to challenging field conditions.
