Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Well Site Geologist to provide crucial geological support during drilling operations in the North West province of South Africa. You will perform real-time interpretation, assess formations, and help ensure drilling targets are met safely while working closely with the on-site drilling team.

The role requires a minimum of five years in field geology, with expertise in sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology, plus experience in wireline logging

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as Well Site Geologist or similar.
• Proficiency in sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology.
• Experience with formation evaluation techniques and wireline logging tools.
• Proficient in geological data interpretation and visualization.

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time geological analysis of cuttings and core samples.
• Identify and evaluate hydrocarbon shows and lithological changes encountered during drilling.
• Correlate well logs and seismic data for subsurface mapping.
• Advise drilling team on geological hazards and operational adjustments.
• Oversee wireline and LWD/MWD operations and ensure data quality.
• Prepare detailed geological reports and summaries of drilling encounters.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Well Site Geologist to provide crucial geological support during drilling operations in the North West province . This role is essential for real-time geological interpretation, formation evaluation, and ensuring drilling targets are met safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the drilling team on-site, analyzing geological data as it comes in from the wellbore. This position requires a strong understanding of subsurface geology and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure in the field, contributing directly to the success of exploration and production activities in the Oil & Gas industry .
