Placements24 is seeking a Well Integrity Engineer in the Paarl area of the Western Cape. The role focuses on ensuring the safety, reliability, and environmental compliance of upstream assets by maintaining well integrity throughout lifecycle.

You will develop and implement WIMS, monitor performance, and work with operations to address integrity issues. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in well engineering, knowledge of industry standards, and a proactive risk-management

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in well engineering, completions, operations, or well integrity.
• Strong understanding of well integrity principles and ISO 16530-1.
• Experience with data management systems for wells.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a prominent name in the Oil & Gas sector, is actively recruiting a diligent Well Integrity Engineer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape. This role is fundamental to ensuring the safety, reliability, and environmental compliance of our upstream assets by focusing on the integrity of wells throughout their lifecycle. You will be responsible for developing and implementing well integrity management systems, monitoring well performance, and addressing any issues related to well integrity. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in well engineering, a thorough understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, and a proactive approach to risk management. We are looking for an individual who can collaborate effectively with operational teams and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of operational safety and efficiency in Paarl.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage well integrity management systems (WIMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Plan and oversee well integrity testing, inspections, and monitoring programs.
• Analyze well integrity data, including pressure tests, diagnostic logs, and inspection reports.
• Identify potential well integrity risks and develop mitigation strategies and action plans.
• Provide technical support and guidance to drilling, completions, and operations teams on well integrity matters.
• Review well design, materials, and construction procedures to ensure compliance with integrity requirements.
• Investigate well integrity failures or anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to well integrity assurance.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to well integrity.
• Contribute to risk assessments and integrity assurance reviews for wells and facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in well engineering, completions, operations, or well integrity.
• Proven understanding of well integrity principles, standards (e.g., ISO 16530-1), and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with well integrity software and data management systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop practical solutions.
• Familiarity with subsea and onshore well operations is beneficial.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Paarl, Western Cape.
