Placements24 is seeking an experienced Water Resource Engineer to join its Richards Bay team in KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on developing sustainable water resources for municipal and industrial clients, contributing to public welfare and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities include planning, design, and implementation of water supply systems, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and flood control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a Water Resources specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng or eligible.
• Minimum 6 years in water resource engineering or related fields.
• Familiarity with SA water legislation and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage water supply projects including treatment plants and networks.
• Develop wastewater collection and treatment solutions.
• Plan stormwater management and flood control infrastructure.
• Conduct hydrological/hydraulic modelling to assess performance.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and EIAs.
• Liaise with regulators, clients and stakeholders.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Water Resource Engineer to join their team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is critical for managing and developing sustainable water resources for municipal and industrial clients. You will be involved in the planning, design, and implementation of projects related to water supply, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and flood control. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage projects for water supply systems, including treatment plants, distribution networks, and storage facilities.
• Develop and implement wastewater collection and treatment solutions, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Plan and design stormwater management systems and flood control infrastructure to mitigate risks in urban and coastal areas.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess water resources and predict system performance under various conditions.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments related to water resource projects.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and community stakeholders to ensure project success and public acceptance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng or eligible.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in water resource engineering , municipal services, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of hydrological principles, hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET), and wastewater treatment technologies.
• Familiarity with South African water legislation and environmental standards.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
