Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Team Leader/Water Engineer to lead a 12-month feasibility study for a cross-border water transfer project in Southern Africa. The role involves guiding a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality reports on time.

The ideal candidate has extensive leadership experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects, with proven ability to manage complex contracts and ensure climate-resilient design and implementation planning.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Water Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 25 years post-qualification experience in water infrastructure.
• 15+ years in large bore pipelines and pump stations.
• Registration as professional engineer and project manager with a recognized body.
• Leadership of feasibility studies, including Africa-based projects.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and complex contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the consultancy services planning and implementation.
• Coordinate the multidisciplinary study team and ensure cross-workstream alignment.
• Ensure study objectives, scope, schedule, and quality are achieved.
• Facilitate consultations with ORASECOM, state institutions, and partners.
• Oversee the preparation and integration of inception, design, feasibility, and implementation reports.
• Direct review of prior studies; guide route confirmation and cost estimation.
• Incorporate ESIA, economic, legal, and institutional findings into the study.
• Oversee risk management, quality assurance, and progress reporting.
• Manage administrative and financial matters of the consultancy.
