Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Team Leader for a high‑level feasibility and preliminary design study for the Lesotho-Botswana water transfer scheme. The role demands senior leadership of a multidisciplinary team across technical workstreams and close collaboration with ORASECOM and national partners.

The ideal candidate has 25+ years of water infrastructure experience, with at least 15 years in large bore pipelines and pump stations, and is registered as a professional engineer and project manager.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in water engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 25 years post-qualification experience in water projects.
• At least 15 years in relevant water infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall planning and implementation of the consultancy services.
• Manage multidisciplinary study team and coordinate across workstreams.
• Ensure study objectives, scope, schedule and deliverables are met.
• Coordinate with ORASECOM, government bodies, stakeholders and partners.
• Oversee preparation and quality control of inception, design and reports.
• Guide route confirmation, design criteria, cost estimation and climate resilience.
• Incorporate environmental, social, financial, legal and institutional findings.
• Manage risk, QA, progress reporting and presentations to panels.
• Oversee administrative, contractual and financial matters of the assignment.
