Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the civil and structural preliminary designs for the Lesotho to Botswana water transfer project. The role involves developing feasibility-level designs for reservoirs, pump stations, break‑pressure tanks and associated infrastructure, coordinating with geotechnical findings and other specialists.

Ideal candidates have a master’s degree in structural engineering, 15 years of post‑qualification experience, and professional registration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• 15 years post-qualification experience in reservoir/hydraulic structure design, planning and development.
• Professional engineer registration in a recognized body.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural preliminary design for reservoirs, pump stations and other hydraulic structures.
• Establish design criteria, loading cases, safety factors and codes.
• Coordinate interfaces with geotechnical, pipeline, ESIA and other specialists.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
