Job summary

Alert Engine Parts in Polokwane is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Manager to oversee our large-scale warehousing and logistics operations. You will lead a high-value stockholding and a unionised workforce to ensure operational excellence and safety.

The role requires a hands-on leader who can set objectives, monitor performance, and drive improvements across inbound, storage, and distribution processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (minimum NQF 7).
• Minimum 10 years’ senior warehouse and logistics management experience.
• Strong leadership, planning, delegation and team management skills.
• Ability to set objectives, monitor performance and drive results.
• Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including OHS Act, LRA, BCEA and EEA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement stock control policies and ensure SOP adherence.
• Manage stock reconciliations and report variances.
• Ensure warehouse operations are efficient and compliant.
• Monitor daily stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Account for stock losses and implement controls to prevent theft.
• Monitor performance and address poor results to improve lead times.
• Oversee inbound parts handling, unpacking, and product checks.
• Distribute stock to branches within prescribed time frames.
• Manage RFCs (returns for credit) daily and coordinate supplier returns.
• Schedule staff time off and development.
• Enforce discipline on warehouse floor.
• Provide leadership to warehouse staff and conduct performance reviews.
• Ensure processes comply with BSOP and legal requirements.

Alert Engine Partsis searching for a highly skilled and results-driven Warehouse Manager to oversee and optimise our large-scale warehousing and logistics operations at our branch in Polokwane. The successful candidate will manage a high-value stockholding and lead a large, unionised workforce to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and safety across all functions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (minimum NQF Level 7) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior warehouse and logistics management role.
• Strong leadership, planning, delegation, and team management skills.
• Ability to set objectives, monitor performance, and drive results.
• Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Good understanding of warehouse and logistics operations with a hands‑on management style.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and Employment Equity Act.
• Strong computer literacy.

Key Performance Indicators includes, but not limited to:

• Develop and implement stock control policies and ensure stock control policies are followed as per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Managing the reconciliation of stock, monitor and report stock variances.
• Ensuring that the warehouse is operating effectively.
• Monitoring daily stock counts, identifying problems, shortages in shipments etc, investigating and taking corrective action thereon.
• Accounting for stock losses and ensuring effective controls are implemented to prevent stock theft.
• Ensure turnaround and lead times are adhered to by constantly monitoring performance by addressing and reporting poor performance.
• Ensure proper management of inbound parts as well as unpacking, checking of products.
• Responsible to oversee the distribution of stock as per allocation.
• Ensure shipments are received, checked, allocated and distributed to branches within the prescribed time frame.
• Ensure proper management is in place to handle all items returned for credit (RFC’s) daily.
• Manage parts returned to suppliers, ensuring that it takes place at least once a week.
• Responsible for staff time off and scheduling.
• Responsible for learning and development of staff.
• Oversight and enforcement of discipline on warehouse floor.

Management:

• Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports when required at Warehouse.
• Evaluate performance of direct reports by conducting performance reviews.
• Ensuring that all processes, procedures and working conditions fall within legal requirements.
• Define warehouse goals and objectives along with methods and measurements to achieve such goals.
• Develop subordinates in all facets of warehouse functions.
• Ensure supervision of the drivers, vehicle maintenance and distribution routes.
• Manage Branch Security and Personnel.
• Ensure Gemba Board adherence and that meetings are conducted regularly.
• Ensure Policy adherence and compliance of BSOP.
