Job summary

Pezula Nature Retreat in Knysna is seeking a Waiter/Waitron to deliver friendly, timely dining service. You will take orders, serve food and beverages, and ensure guests have a smooth experience while upselling additional services when appropriate.

In this guest-facing role, you’ll balance accuracy with warmth, assist with daily opening duties, and maintain a clean, welcoming dining area throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Familiarity with restaurant duties and procedures.
• Opera experience advantageous.
• Ability to read, write and converse in English.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Team player with relationship-building skills.
• Dependable, adaptable and guest-focused.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and seat guests where applicable.
• Present menus, answer questions and inform guests of daily specials.
• Take accurate orders, noting customisations, and capture them on Micros.
• Serve food and beverages, including specialty dishes at tables when required.
• Check in with guests during meals and resolve issues promptly.
• Clear tables, reset them and maintain a clean dining area.
• Upsell other outlets, accommodation and tourism services.
• Prepare restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
• Ensure guests are of legal drinking age before serving alcohol.
• Handle complaints and guest requests professionally.
• Prepare bills, process payments and give accurate change.
• Balance payments and bills at the end of each shift.

This role forms part of the front of house food and beverage team at Pezula Nature Retreat, within the Village n Life hospitality group.

The Role

As a Waiter / Waitron you’ll provide friendly and timely service, taking orders and serving food and beverages to ensure guests enjoy their dining experience. You’ll be attentive to guest needs, manage accurate orders on Micros and support the smooth running of the restaurant.
