Responsibilities include greeting guests, knowing the menu and wine list, upselling dishes, handling feedback professionally, and accurately processing transactions on Easipos.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ waitering experience in a fine dining environment.
• Sound knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and beverages.
• Proficiency in Easipos POS system.
• Matric Certificate (essential).
• Strong upsell and guest engagement skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and maintain discretion.

Red Ember Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is seeking a professional, energetic, and service-driven Waiter to join a luxury hospitality establishment in Franschhoek. This position requires someone who can deliver an exceptional dining experience in line with fine dining standards, ensuring that guests receive warm, professional, discreet yet efficient service while maintaining the highest standards of food and beverage presentation.

Main Responsibilities

• Greet all guests warmly and professionally in accordance with establishment standards.


• Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times.


• Understand the sequence of service and anticipate guest needs.


• Be fully aware of your table allocations, dietary requirements, allergies and special requests during service by ensuring that you pay careful attention to the day sheet provided, where all guest details will be noted.


• Inform the kitchen of any guest food requirements or allergies in accordance with standards.


• Have a complete knowledge of the menu and wine list to confidently assist guests.


• Assist guests with non-menu requests, responding positively and accommodating where possible.


• \"Sell\" rather than \"order take\" by recommending dishes, wines, and upselling menu items.


• Handle guest complaints and comments professionally, escalating them to the Restaurant Manager / MOD when necessary.


• Familiarise yourself on each shift with the day sheet and any events (function sheets) applicable to your shift to be well prepared and informed to deliver a high-quality service.


• Ensure all tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset in accordance with establishment standards.


• Perform cleaning tasks as required, including polishing cutlery and glassware, cleaning floors, fridges, windows & service areas i.e. buffet stations.


• Assist with monthly stock take as and when requested by the Restaurant Manager.


• Assist with restocking of fridges and bar areas – always remember the FIFO rule (First In; First Out).


• Have a full understanding and be able to do set-up’s for picnics, braai’s, conferences in Indaba and any other special events.


• Accurately enter all transactions into the Easipos system.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ waitering experience in a fine dining environment (hotel restaurant experience advantageous).


• Sound knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and beverages.


• Proficiency in POS systems (Easipos advantageous).


• Inherent Requirements: Matric Certificate (essential).


• Wine certificate course (beneficial).


• Strong ability to upsell and engage with guests confidently.


• Excellent time management and attention to detail.


• Problem-solving and customer service skills.


• Ability to work well under pressure.
