Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Volunteer Mobilization Officer to build and lead a volunteer program in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will design recruitment strategies, oversee training, and manage volunteers to support community initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing for underserved populations.

You will foster a culture of service, collaborate with program managers, maintain records, recognize volunteers, and promote opportunities through social media and local partnerships.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in volunteer management or related HR field.
• Proven ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Familiarity with Tembisa community dynamics is preferred.
• Experience with volunteer management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute strategies for the recruitment of volunteers from the local Tembisa community and beyond.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive orientation and training programs for new volunteers, covering organizational policies, procedures, and specific roles.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the volunteer team, providing ongoing support, guidance, and performance feedback.
• Foster a positive and engaging volunteer experience to ensure retention and ongoing commitment.
• Collaborate with program managers to identify volunteer needs across various projects and initiatives.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records, including contact information, hours served, and areas of contribution.
• Organize volunteer appreciation events and activities to acknowledge and celebrate their contributions.
• Promote volunteer opportunities through various channels, including social media, community boards, and local partnerships.
