About the Role

Our client, a leading multidisciplinary urban planning and design consultancy, is seeking an experienced Urban Design Architect to join their team in Polokwane, Limpopo. This role is central to shaping the future of urban environments, focusing on the design and planning of sustainable, resilient, and livable cities and communities. You will be responsible for leading urban design projects, developing master plans, strategic frameworks, and design guidelines for public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of urban planning principles, placemaking, public space design, and sustainable urban development. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban design strategies, master plans, and design guidelines for various scales of urban projects.
• Collaborate with urban planners, landscape architects, engineers, and policymakers to create integrated urban solutions.
• Analyze urban contexts, identify opportunities, and propose innovative design interventions for public and private spaces in Limpopo.
• Prepare high-quality visualisations, master plans, and design reports for clients and public consultations.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement processes, including workshops and public participation forums.
• Ensure designs promote social equity, environmental sustainability, economic vitality, and cultural heritage.
• Advise clients on urban design best practices, planning policy, and regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Urban Design or Urban Planning.
• Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in urban design, master planning, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex urban design projects from concept to implementation.
• Strong understanding of urban planning theories, spatial analysis, placemaking, and sustainable urban development principles.
• Proficiency in relevant design and visualization software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with experience in public engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of planning legislation and development frameworks in South Africa.
