Job summary

Hire Resolve's client in Gauteng is seeking an Underground Engineering Manager to lead engineering functions and optimise asset performance. You will maintain engineering standards and support capital projects while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include strategic planning, leading engineering teams, managing maintenance and risk strategies, and driving continuous improvement across underground operations.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• GCC Mines & Works
• 7-10 years' experience as an Engineer within an underground mining environment
• 3-5 years' experience in a 2.13.1 appointment
• Experience in project planning, cost of ownership and financial models
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and contribute to strategic planning and operational objectives.
• Lead and manage engineering resources to support production targets and project requirements.
• Develop, implement and monitor engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies.
• Ensure engineering infrastructure and equipment are adequately maintained to support operational requirements.
• Drive engineering standards, procedures and compliance to reduce operational and business risks.
• Support and provide engineering input into major capital projects.
• Lead continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives.
• Manage engineering-related risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legal, environmental, occupational health and safety requirements.
• Manage engineering personnel, including performance, development, training and coaching.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage engineering resources and contribute to cost optimisation and operational efficiency.
• Promote a strong safety, performance and continuous improvement culture.
