About the Role

Our client, a prominent national logistics company, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Transport Planner to join their team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to our operational success from anywhere within South Africa. The Transport Planner will be responsible for optimizing the scheduling and routing of our fleet to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely deliveries across various regions. This role requires a strong understanding of transportation logistics, route optimization software, and effective communication with drivers and stakeholders. You will play a critical role in enhancing delivery performance, reducing operational costs, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily delivery routes for the fleet, considering factors such as delivery windows, driver hours, and vehicle capacity.
• Utilize route optimization software to design the most efficient and cost-effective routes.
• Monitor fleet performance in real-time, making necessary adjustments to routes and schedules to address unforeseen delays or issues.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, providing them with clear route instructions, delivery schedules, and updates.
• Liaise with operations, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure seamless coordination of transportation activities.
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of planned routes, actual delivery times, and mileage.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including driver working hours.
• Assist in the planning and coordination of special deliveries or urgent shipments.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Transport Planner, Dispatcher, or in a similar logistics planning role (minimum 3 years).
• Proficiency in using route optimization software (e.g., RouteXL, OptimoRoute, or similar).
• Strong understanding of transportation logistics, fleet management, and supply chain principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage remote drivers.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems is an advantage.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
• Experience with operations in the Paarl, Western Cape region is a plus but not required due to remote nature.
